Playing Drums

Playing drums, besides a musical activity, is also a kind of exercise. It is for sure the instrument that requires more physical effort to play, and so say the doctors. It can bring several health benefits if it is done right, but it may also cause some problems when the posture and movements are not correct.

Although drumming is not considered a sport, there are competitions around the world involving the fastest drummers. Speed requires good physical shape, and the fingers are constantly in movement. Every sport requires some special abilities and senses, and it is not different in music. Musicians need sensitivity to know everything that's happening around them, and they're always working in group, depending on each other all the time, as a team. That's something very important, because some of them really treat music like a sport, trying to impress too much and without any group sense.

To keep in shape, other activities can be helpful, such as running and swimming. Don't forget to warm up and stretch your body before starting, and pay attention to the posture. Music is good for everybody, and even better when you exercise muscles, hearth, hearing and mind at the same time.
