Avril Ramona Lavigne was born on a Wednesday, September 27, 1984, in the town of Napanee, Ontario, Canada.
Since Avril was a child she played in concerts in churches, parties and festivals.
When she was 14 years old, she was singing in a bookstore and her first businessman notied something special about her.
After winning a local radio saw she singing and Avril discovered that sing what she really wanted.

Antic Cafe/Antique Cafe/An Cafe

Antic Cafe, or An Cafe, for the fans, is a Japanese band, formed in 2003 by Miku, the vocalist, Bou, the guitarist and Kanon, the baixist. signed to the independent label Loop Ash. They are describedas a oshare kei band, a subset of visual kei As of 2008, the group has released three full-length albums.

The band played in festivals, events, with other indie bands. For the three teenagers, was only the beginning. Were already starting to have recognition. On August 2003, the drummer Teruki joined on the band. On March 2004, their first release, Candyholic, was launched by the independent label Loop Ash. The success was immediate. In two weeks, the band reached the top on Oricon singles chart. Their first solo presentation of the band, Happy Birthday Tsuyu, was happened this year, in Takadanodaba. The tickets for the concert exhausted quickly. At the next months, the band made another tour, and launched more Singles: 69 and Komou Cosmos and the live-single Touhikairo. The reviewed Shoxx launched a DVD about this single.

At December, An Cafe made a small tour. On 2005, the band launched your first EP (a compilation of singles), Amedama Rock, and after, launched a new single, Karakuri Hitei. In 2007, Bou unjoined the An Cafe. After this, the first single with their new integrants was announced as "Kakusei Heroism" followed by "Ryuusei Rocket". In the end of 2007, An Cafe announced their first overseas tour, taking place in Europe in 2008.

In the opening weeks of 2008, An Cafe announced their upcoming single, "Cherry Saku Yuuki!!" in February, as well as their next studio album, Gokutama Rock Cafe, which was released on April 9, 2008.

Thiago Pereira Machado Vilela is one of the biggest names of today's Brazilian swimming. His versatility impresses athletes, technicians and fans of the sport. According to the press and with experienced athletes such as Olympic medalist Gustavo Borges, Thiago was a great hope for medal in the Olympics in Beijing.
The victorious career began at age 12, with the achievement of a bronze medal in a competition in the city of Volta Redonda (RJ). At the same time, he also had his first victory in federal championships in a competition in Valencia, a region of Volta Redonda.
From there, the course was fulminating. After many achievements between 13 and 16 years, Thiago received the proposal to incorporate the Minas Tennis Club team at the end of 2001. Daniel Dias is a 20 year old guy who had his first obstacle when ee was Born. He is a disabled boy who saw at swimming an opportunity to show that his disability wouldn’t prevent him from reaching a dream.

When he was born, life wasn’t that simple for him. His mother says that Daniel used to suffer prejudice because he was different from the other kids and she didn’t know what to do to help him adapt at school and to help him making friends. But on the other hand, it was his father who came with the idea of enrolling him at swimming classes to make him interact with more children.

“After two or three classes I was in love with the sport and knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life” he says. And than he started to practice more and more. His teacher encouraged him a lot because he knew that Daniel would have future in the sport.

At his first big championship, the paraolympic games in Brazil he couldn’t do better. He was the big winner of parapanamerican games with 8 golden medals and two world records. So it just encouraged him to work hard to the biggest challenge of his life: The Ollimpic games in Beijing. He won spectacular number of 9 medals. He was the one who brought more medals to Brazil.

So, after winning such a huge number of medals and break 4 world records, Daniel Dias came back to Brazil from Beijing more excited than ever to continue his journey of victories. Beside bringing more visibility of disabled people, encourage other disabled people to know that they are capable to reach their dream.

Clube Atlético Mineiro

Clube Atlético Mineiro was founded on March 25,1908 by 22 middle-class boys from Belo Horizonte. The boys decided that the uniform would be a white shirt with a green horizontal strip on the chest. Soon after they decided to change the kit to the black and white striped shirt like nowadays. Atlético first match was against Sport football club, Atlético won 3-0. From this day Atlético became a very respected team in the city.

A very important fact is that in 1969 Atletico beat the Brazilian national team that would become champions of the 1970 FIFA World Cup in 1970 for 2-1. Two years later, Atletico won the first Brazilian championship in history the biggest title. The following decade would be one of the best in Atlético history, the club won the state championship 6 times and the team has a very good performances in Brazilian Championship.

Nowadays Atlético has a great team with a lot of good players. Atlético has a big patrimonium with Galo store , Labareda Club and the training center: Galo city. In 2004 Atlético got into a financial crises and almost got demoted to the B series. In 2005 Atlético started the year disastrously, it was the worst year of its history. Atlético got demoted to the second Division of the Brazilian Championship. In 2007 Atlético resurged to the A series of the Brazilian Championship again and in this year defeated their rival Cruzeiro in the final of Minas championship.

Atlético is one of the most traditional soccer teams in Brazil, in this year of 2008 galo is celebrating one hundred years! There is no doubt Atlético Mineiro is a soccer team with a lot of titles , victories and fame! It’s very important to the history of soccer!

To keep in shape, other activities can be helpful, such as running and swimming. Don't forget to warm up and stretch your body before starting, and pay attention to the posture. Music is good for everybody, and even better when you exercise muscles, hearth, hearing and mind at the same time.

GIBA: The Brazilian volleyball player

Nowadays if you are a volleyball passionate, you may be a fan of Gilberto Godoy Filho, affectionately known as Giba in the volleyball world. The number one player of the world was expected to lead the Brazilian men´s team to repeat in Beijing´s Olympic Championship their Athens glory.

Born in a baker´s family in Londrina, Brazil in 1976, Giba passed through many adversities in his young years. He had leukemia when he was a baby and injured his arm badly in his childhood. The boy challenged the difficulties and showed great gift in volleyball.

Four years ago , a high Brazilian spirit won over the European champions, Italy, to complete a sweep of world championship, world league and the olympic games. Giba contributed 20 points for his team at the wonderful finale on olympic games in Athens. Brazilian coach Bernardo Resende has also shown great expectation to his captain: ´´Giba is the type of player that when it´s a big game, a big event, he´s always ready´´.

RODEO

Rodeo is a sport based on the skills required for working with animals in a farm. Today rodeos are more common in the U.S, Canada, Mexico and it consists of several different modalities and judged events involving cattle and horses to test the speed and skills of the human cowboys and cowgirls, the athetes who participate on the competition.




This sport has many forms of competiton such as: Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Steer Wrestling and Roping. All of the animals which participate in the competitions are safely protected by law, so rodeos are legal.

In Brazil, there are some popular rodeos events such as Americana, Jaguariúna but the most famous one is ' Festa do Peão de Boiadeiro ' in Barretos-SP, and the party happens in August and it lasts 11 days.


Therefore, rodeo is a very beautiful and happy event where people have fun. Nowadays anyone can go to a party and watch country music concerts, see the competitions, the people and wear the typical clothes, like hat, boots, belts and basic jeans. So let's have fun!!

CRUZEIRO ESPORTE CLUBE

Cruzeiro Sport Club was founded in January 2, 1921. At first with the name of Societá Palestra Itália. The colors used were the same of the Italian flag and the first uniform was a green t-shirt, white shorts and red socks.
The first official game of the club was against Atletico-MG, in which it won with the score 3x0.
The idea to turn Palestra Itália into a Brazilian club came up in September, 1942. The new name was Ypiranga. However, the team played only one game under this new name. In October, 1942, the new name of the club: Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was aproved for good. A new era began. An era of victories, achievements, championships and so much happiness to the fans, who received the name of “China Azul”.
As in other teams, great football players made history in the club and become idols. Players like Nonato, Palhinha, Nelinho, Raul Plassman, Dida, Jairzinho, Luizão, Tostão, Sorín, Revétria, Alex... They all fought with spirit and sweat until the end to bring as many titles as they could to the team .

One of the best teams in Brazil, Cruzeiro won 2 national championships (1966 and 2003), 4 Brazilians Cups (1993, 1996, 2000, and 2003), 34 regional and 2 international titles – Libertadores of America (1976 and 1997). With all these titles, Cruzeiro recorded its name in the history of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and America. Definetely, it is a team which will never be forgotten.

THE OLYMPICS HISTORY

The Olympic Games nowadays are very different from what they were in their beginning.
The first Ancient Olympic Games happened in 776 B.C., in Olympia, Greece. They were part of the traditional cult of Zeus, even though their most important objective was showing the physical qualities of the athletes. Keeping good relations between cities of Greece was also important.

The ancient games included running, jumping and discus throwing – the discus were made of stone and later of iron, imagine their weight! They continued happening for nearly 12 centuries, until Emperor Theodosius banned them in 393 A.C. He did it because of the pagan character of the ceremony.

The first celebration of the modern Olympic Games was in 1896. Not as a coincidence, it happened in Greece, involving athletes from 14 nations. The most popular event was the marathon.

China was the country chosen to receive the latest games. They happened from August, 8 to August, 24 of this year and gave a great impression of China to the world. Despite being a developing country, China was able to build all the necessary shelters to the athletes and the structure to the modalities of games.

The opening and the closing ceremonies were also an exhibition of China’s effort. The country welcomed the world to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games at the Bird’s Nest Stadium with two thousand drums and fireworks. There were amazing acrobats, art and opera performances in both ceremonies.

Even though the Olympic Games have significantly changed since their creation, they still have a strong meaning: assemble people from different parts of the world and show them that they have something in common. We hope the spirit of the Olympic Torch to keep burning for a long time.

Women’s Football

Women have been playing football as long as the game exists. In the twentieth century Europe, French women played this game as part of Era’s folk festival. They believed that this goddess brought prosperity to the people. That is why they had a festival to worship her, with dances and games. During World War I it became popular in large scale, but it was banned in England and Scotland. Since then, women’s football has been forgotten.






But we watched the revival of the women’s game in the sixties. Lots of championships were created, like the Women’s World Cup. National and International competitions have been growing and helping many good players to became recognized.






FIFA awards the best football players every year and Marta, a Brazilian player, won this prize twice. Marta plays in a Swedish team, and like her, many other girls need to go abroad to play professionally. They dream about the day that women’s football will be recognized in Brazil and they won’t need to go abroad anymore.




Nowadays, women’s football has become professional and it is growing in popularity and participation. However, there is a lot of prejudice. In Brazil, like many other countries, a little importance has been given to the sport. But this is changing, new laws and championships are being creating to stimulate it. So, take your ball and let’s play!
